I'm Abby,
nice to meet you.

I was born and raised in Wisconsin and earned my Bachelor's in Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2025.

Apart from websites and digital design, I'm passionate about experiencing different cultures through travel, tasting diverse cuisines, and unwinding by listening to music! 🎧 ✈️ 🍱

My journey into the world of UX started unexpectedly in my third year of college when I took a course called Interaction Design Studio. This class introduced me to the iterative design process and taught me the basics of interactive mock-ups in Figma. The final project for the course was a group-based design project, where we were required to create a mobile app mockup built to solve a user need. This process is what made me eager to learn more about how thoughtful design could shape people’s experiences with technology. After finishing the course, I switched my major to Information Science and enrolled in every UX-related course that UW-Madison had to offer.

Since then, I’ve built a solid foundation in coding languages, visual design, and user experience through internships and coursework. After my junior year, I had the amazing opportunity to work as a Web Development intern for a non-profit organization in Morogoro, Tanzania, where I built a website for a local secondary school. Working there opened my eyes to the challenges that Tanzanians (and people in other developing countries) face in accessing proper education about technology, as well as the huge potential for tech adoption in Africa. Living and working abroad also strengthened my commitment to designing for global inclusivity.

After my internship, I was eager to travel again and continue the work I started in bridging the digital divide and making technology more accessible for people everywhere. During my senior year, I served as the Web Marketing Assistant for UW-Madison’s Interdisciplinary Professional Program in the College of Engineering, where I worked on website optimization and digital marketing strategies before landing another international opportunity.

A Little Bit
About Me...

My final semester of college led me to Helsinki, Finland, where I worked as a Digital Marketing Intern with Finnish Special Education in Africa (FSEA). My role involved website redesigns, content updates, and video projects, all in support of FSEA’s mission to expand access to education for students with special needs in Arusha, Tanzania. FSEA also partners with Sakea Studio, a marketing agency, so I was extremely lucky to learn all about media production for large companies from some seriously talented creatives along the way!  My educational and professional opportunities have shown me how technology can bring about real-world solutions, sharpening my focus on designing accessible, user-centered digital experiences

When I’m not working, you can find me walking by the lake, sipping on an iced coffee, searching through thrift stores, or catching a flight to explore a new place! As for now, I'm eager to kickstart my own web design business, to continue traveling, and am looking forward to moving to a new city!
